5 Tips to Improving Air Consumption| Belize Scuba Dive Vacation

Belize Scuba Dive Vacation Tips to Improving Air Consumption #1| – Buoyancy and Weighting:

Master neutral buoyancy by checking be sure not to carry extra  weights. Study the way you streamline yourself in the water. Fighting with buoyancy problems is a lot of effort, and constantly putting air in and out of your BCD needlessly will quickly suck up your air supply.

Belize Scuba Dive Vacation Tips to Improving Air Consumption #2| – Configure your Kit:

Experiment with different set-up positions until your resting position in the water is as near to horizontal as possible. Remember not everyone has one body type so you need to try various set-up positions until you find the best for your body type. This will keep you streamlined in the water and result in less exertion whilst diving.

Belize Scuba Dive Vacation Tips to Improving Air Consumption #3| – Relax:

Perhaps the biggest factor – reduce your stress and just enjoy the ride; by reducing your workload under the water, you’ll reduce your air consumption vastly. Remember your breading may be out of wack as first, as all that moving gearing up prior to taking the plunge may have you breading heavily. Be the first in the water and take that opportunity to settle down and control your breathing prior to using your air. This will allow some time to relax your breathing.

Belize Scuba Dive Vacation Tips to Improving Air Consumption #4| – Go Slow:

Making calm and slow movements will help  with your breathing. Keep your breathing slow and deep as you go.

Belize Scuba Dive Vacation Tips to Improving Air Consumption #5| – Swim with your fins only:

Don’t use your hands – use your fins. Swimming with your hands is mostly ineffective, and only causes you to work harder which in turn, uses up your air faster. (The exception here, of course, is if you have physical limitations to finning).
