THE GRAND SLAM – DIVE THE BEST BELIZE SCUBA DIVING PACKAGE (available to groups of 10 or more)

The Blue Hole, Barrier Reef & Atolls

Splash Dive Center offers you the best Belize scuba diving package of 14 of the best dive sites in Belize and the Caribbean.  This includes diving the famous Blue Hole at Lighthouse Atoll!

We dive the two most remote of the Belize atolls – Glovers Reef and Lighthouse as well as the Marine Reserves on the Belize Barrier Reef. The pristine waters with unique coral formations and tons of marine life makes Glovers reef a popular spot for divers wanting to see the best Belize has to offer. Glover’s Reef is a UNESCO’s world heritage site and a marine reserve with designated no take and conservation zones with loads of dive sites. Glovers is the most remote of the atolls with loads of dive sites, so be prepared to be amazed.  The famous Blue Hole was immortalized by Jacques Cousteau in the Calypso. This dive is on almost every hard core diver’s bucket list and the other two dives at Lighthouse Atoll get rave reviews, particularly at Half Moon Caye with the additional attraction of being the site of Half Moon Caye Natural Monument, home to the rookery of a variety of tropical and marine birds, particularly the red-footed booby.  We do 3 tank dives at both atolls.

South Water Caye is a Belize Marine Reserve on the barrier reef protecting the marine and reef environments which makes for some excellent diving. Barrier reef dive sites at South Water Caye include a myriad of interesting walls and canyons with spur and grove formations and very healthy corals. The outer reef walls are one of the best places to see spotted eagle rays.  Nearby Grand Channel, featuring a cut in the Belize barrier reef, in the same marine reserve is a cut in the Belize barrier reef.  This wall dive includes a variety of entrancing underwater spur and groove along with sand channel terrain in addition to the cut. Eagle rays, southern sting rays, turtles, moray eels and barracuda are commonly seen and occasionally.  There are a myriad of dive sites at both South Water Caye and Grand Channel and you could return the next day and do another 3 tank dive and think you were at a new dive destination!

We do two tank dives at on the barrier reef at Silk Cayes followed by a short but encounter filled snorkel before returning to Placencia. Silk or Queen Cayes is another Marine Reserve near Gladden Spit with a wall that goes down forever! The post dive snorkel is just inside the barrier reef where the local fisherman clean their catch – almost guaranteed to snorkel with huge turtles, southern sting rays, eagle rays, and nurse sharks. Great chance for a nose to nose photo op with the great big turtle.

Most of the time we dive the Blue Hole as a day trip, but if we have enough interested divers, we can arrange to dive the Blue Hole as an overnight trip. This option is particularly attractive and only available to groups. We leave early in the morning (continental breakfast at the shop) and head to South Water Caye for our first dive (a Marine Reserve and a great area to see eagle rays). After the first dive, we brunch through the surface interval while we head to The Elbow at Turneffe Atoll for an opportunity to see pelagics and lots of them. Back on the boat again and off to Long Caye with its plethora of excellent dive sites. We overnight at a resort and then dive the Blue Hole before breakfast conditions are pristine, usually the sharks are there and other divers are not! When we head back to the resort for breakfast, on the horizon, you can see all the dive boats coming from San Pedro. After breakfast, we head for Half Moon Caye, again one of the most famous dives in Belize. During the surface interval, we head south for the third dive of the day in the South Water Caye Marine Reserve on our way back to Placencia.

You can enhance this scuba diving package by combining it with Whale Shark diving in season for an additional $US 200.00.  Just schedule your trip to come during the shale shark moon season and substitute a day of whale shark diving instead of the Belize barrier reef. Click here for whale shark dates.
