Belize has many activities and tours to offer and visiting the Belize Zoo is a great way to get an introduction to Belize’s Wildlife. Team Splash works hard to preserve the environment and work with communities to achieve just this.

The Belize Zoo hosts over 150 animals that represent over 45 species, all which are native to Belize. The Belize Zoo also acts as a rehab center for wild animals that have been rescued or donated by international organizations.

In 1983, the Belize Zoo opened its doors and to that date it is the home of a large collection of Belize animals. Amazingly the Belize Zoo continues to receive thousands of visitors yearly who come to experience Belize’s Wildlife.

The Zoo is located on the George Price Highway 30 minutes from Belize City as well as from Belmopan, Belize’s Capital. It is a favorite stop to make on your way back to the airport just before heading home.

ZOO

The Belize Zoo| Must See!

  • *Scarlet Macaws
  • *Jaguars
  • *Howler Monkeys
  • *Tapir (Belize’s National Animal)
  • *Keel-Billed Toucan (Belize’s National Bird)

Many visitors love the experience, as indeed it is more than just a Zoo. When you arrive be sure to ask if you can feed “Marsizo” the friendly Tapir or if you can feed one of the colorful Keel-Billed Toucans. Share in this unique experience for a small donation that will aid in the maintenance and enhancement of the Belize Zoo.

The Belize Zoo hosts many environmental education and awareness programs and has an accommodation facility nearby for international interns who volunteer during summer.
