Snuba - For when snorkelling on the Belize barrier reef just isn’t enough!!!

Snuba is a unique activity that is a cross between scuba diving and snorkelling, where participants are tethered to a compressed air system and breathing apparatus, and tethered with a 20 foot/6 meter hose, that allows you to stay underwater at shallow depths for extended periods of time not available to snorkelers.   This experience gives snorkelers or divers the feeling of being in a giant aquarium, and requires no previous training or experience, and is open to all members of the family from 4 years old and upwards.

Snuba does not require certification and is a great introduction to the underwater world, and to enjoy the beauty of the Belize barrier reef and see one of mother nature’s wonders.  Our registered Belizean tour guides at Splash Dive Center are trained as Snuba Instructors and guides, and will closely supervise you throughout the entire activity.

Snuba divers breathe underwater by means of a 20 foot/6 meter air line which is connected to a standard scuba tank. The tank is mounted on a raft on the surface that follows your every movement. The airline allows you to tour underwater near the bottom, at mid-water or on the surface depending on your level of comfort. There is no heavy diving gear. Every Snuba tour is guided by a diving professional. Your guide will familiarize you with the Snuba equipment you will be using and briefly describe what you can expect in the water.

Our snuba tours are offered where ever we conduct a snorkelling trip, and also at selected dive sites.  There is also the option to try snuba at Gladden Spit on our Whale shark snorkeling trips.
The entire snuba experience can be conducted in half a day for trips to the inner reef or a full day for trips to Glovers reef, or to Gladden Spit for the Whale shark encounters.
