Opening of the Belize International Airport is less than a month away and Splash is getting ready to receive international visitors.  In addition to making the necessary preparations for protecting our guests and crew, we are continuing diving and snorkeling tours and dive training.  Today we celebrate Women’s Dive Day and we have several students doing the PADI Open Water course!  While we have set up our dive center and boats to be able to observe social distancing, we had a short relapse today to get everyone into the photo.

This boat is a 46 foot Newton Dive Special with two decks so we are able to achieve the 6 foot social distancing (we consider those living under the same roof as though they are one person similar to the social seating arrangements in restaurants).

There are about 20 active cases of Covid-19 in Belize.  Most of these are in the Orange Walk District in northern Belize where Belizeans have been illegally crossing back and forth into Mexico.  The Government has now quarantined the villages of Blue Creek and San Filipe under a state of emergency for 30 days.  Active cases in other parts of Belize are Belizeans who have returned from abroad and tested on arrival in Belize and who undergo two weeks of quarantine.  The Government of Belize continues to do whatever is necessary to achieve a covid-19 free Belize.
