Take the PADI Assistant Instructor course with Splash Dive Center

Learn to teach and improve your employability

As a PADI 5 star facility Splash Dive Center is one of the few dive facilities in Belize and Placencia that can take your professional dive training one step further from the PADI Divemaster course and train you as a PADI Assistant Instructor (AI).

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). You’ll not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional but you’ll also start learning the PADI System of diver education.

What can PADI Assistant Instructors do?

  • Teach academic presentations under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
  • Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
  • Teach the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course
  • Teach Project AWARE Specialty courses
  • Conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences
  • Teach Emergency First Response after successful completion of an Emergency First  Response Instructor course

To enroll in the PADI Assistant Instructor course an individual needs to be a certified PADI Divemaster, have 60 logged dives, and been a certified diver for at least 6 months. We can schedule our PADI Assistant Instructor course to start anytime as long as you are a certified PADI Divemaster, or equivalent with another organisation.

During the AI course you will learn how to teach and present parts of PADI scuba diving courses, and some specialty classes, in the classroom, in confined water and also open water.

You'll need a full set of scuba diving equipment, and the PADI Instructor manual and RDP's and we recommend obtaining the PADI IDC crew pack in addition to having all manuals for reference. The course can vary from as little as three days to more than two weeks depending upon how much time you have and how we integrate the training.

As an Assistant Instructor you immediately improve your employability within the dive industry and increase your earnings potential. This program credits towards the PADI Instructor Development Course and allows you to gain experience as an instructional assistant before deciding to commit to the IDC. The Assistant Instructor course can be conducted as part of the PADI IDC or as a stand-alone program.
