Further along the ridge, divers slopes down towards a sandy bottom where crawling conchs, rough gill ray and occasional fast-moving hammerhead shark scoot. Hammerhead sharks are relatively rare in Belize. Nevertheless, a dive destination full of surprises.

Pompion Wall – Pompion Caye
Pompion Wall is a diving paradise and home to both colorful reef fishes and pelagic species such as king mackerel, wahoo and tuna. Pompion Wall is an easy and fun dive. Pompion is a private caye so the dive sites at Pompion see fewer divers. While there are several dive sites in the area, the best is Pompion Wall where divers decend to approximately 30 feet and work their way down to a sheer wall. Off the wall, check out the crevices which have become habitats for spiny lobsters, green moray eels, spider crabs and hawksbill turtles. Pompion is a good spot to find the invasive species lionfish. The fewer number of divers makes this caye a great choick for lionfish hunting. We promote lion fish hunting as this invasive species is a serious threat to the reef.
