We are looking forward to the day when tourists and old friends can return to Belize. In the meantime, we are preparing for your next visit to Belize. We have installed facilities and implemented programs to protect our guests, our crews, and our suppliers. If you want to dive or snorkel with Splash Belize, you must wear a mask unless you have a scuba regulator or snorkel in your mouth or are eating or drinking. We have lots of space at our dive center and on our boats to ensure social distancing. We sterilize dive and snorkel gear and our […]
Belize had covid-1919 under control until late last week. Unfortunately, there has been a surge in covid-19 cases over the past few days. Ambergris Caye and three villages in Orange Walk District are now under quarantine – no one is allowed in or out.
The Ministry of Health confirmed a number of new cases bringing the total number of active cases to 120. Most of these cases are in San Pedro (76) in Ambergris Caye where three clusters were identified. Contract tracing is underway. The Ministry says the source of these current infections is unclear.
It is believed that the source for […]

Opening of the Belize International Airport is less than a month away and Splash is getting ready to receive international visitors. Today we celebrate Women’s Dive Day and we have several students doing the PADI Open Water course! While we have set up our dive center and boats to be able to observe social distancing, we had a short relapse today to get everyone into the photo.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow announced that the Belize International Airport will open on August 15 as Phase Three of five phases. In the near term, entry will be very closely controlled to minimize the potential spread of covid-19.
Airport arrival procedures will include health screening. Accommodation choices will be limited to hotels and resorts that have received the Gold Standard Certification. The first ones to open are those that can provide airport pickup and drop off, isolated tours and in-house restaurants.
To come to Belize you must download the Belize Health App and register your accommodation on the app to receive your […]

Pressure is increasing to open the Belize International Airport, but Belize continues its firm continuation of the State of Emergency though to the end of this month. Any decision on relaxing the State of Emergency must be approved by The National Oversight Committee which is co-chaired by the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
More than fifty hoteliers have signed a letter to the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition asking that they open the international airport on July 1 saying that if Belize wants to continue to be a top tier Caribbean and Central American destination, travelers […]

Belize closed its borders on March 22 after the first covid-19 infected person arrived in Belize. Through a combination of quick response when the first case was detected, strong enforcement of the State of Emergency regulations with fines and jail time for violators and through public education and transparency, Belize has now been covid-19 free for over 6 weeks.
The borders are still closed as surrounding countries all have active covid-19 cases. As a result, hundreds of Belizeans have been “trapped” outside of Belize and unable to return home.
With covid-19 under control Belize is now preparing to open its borders for […]
